Pretty interesting… For my first cheese fondue, it was delicious. I guess it’s the owner’s but it’s like they don’t have a cash register at all, just something that totals bills. The waiter went to a purse and pulled out a wallet where he got change. The bill was a bit weird though… or more like how we got change. After a while, the cheese got to a thick almost mozzerella-ish consistency which meant eat fast otherwise it’s going to be hard. Le Flacon has one Michelin Star and got 15 at Gault et Millau. The cheese was a bit on the salty side and very gooey initially. Another Michelin Star for LivinGeneva’s restaurant list This time we went to Carouge the sister city of Geneva that is known for its charming streets and delicious restaurants. The bread first came out and then the melty pot of hot cheesy goodness. I guess it’s in case you want more drinks or more food then they can keep track as they probably get busy. Apparently at the end they take this and add it to what you’ve ordered in terms of food. The bill for the drinks came in this tiny bucket. Then we ordered the mushroom fondue (Fondue aux bolets - 27-ish Swiss Francs). We opted for hot tea (Lipton Yellow Label for 3. Crazy right? We sat down again after coming back and decided to get drinks as it’s apparently frowned upon if you just ask for water. There were already tables reserved with pieces of paper on the table when we got there. Apparently this place is the Go-To place for Fondue and gets pretty freaking busy. Quimporte le flacon, pourvu quon ait livresse (What matters the jug, if euphoria be within) Alfred de Musset. So we said we’d come back in half an hour and moved our car closer as it was freezing. You will find all the restaurant’s details following the local. We arrived here after snowboarding and apparently after sitting down, they said they don’t serve the fondue until 6: 30pm. Quelques belles terrasses gourmandes pour l’été Par Alain Giroud Retrouvez-nous dans larticle de la Tribune de Genève paru ce matin. Next time I come back I would ask for the table that faces the kitchen ? The Chef’s Table! Everything TO-DIE-FOR.Ĭréme Caramel with Lemon Sorbet in a very special presentationĪs a whole, it is a very good table, it was a great experience and the open kitchen detail gives it a special touch. Our main courses where served with Potatoes’ Mousseline with nuts – soft, fluffy and with tons of taste!Ĭhocolate, chocolate, chocolate– Cacao sorbet, chocolate milk panna cotta, white chocolate mousse topped with a crispy chocolate crumble. The taste is very delicate and unique, the sauce paired perfectly with all the other ingredients. Pomme de Ris de Veau – Veal Sweetbreads – My first time trying this part of the veal, very interesting texture. Neither of us took the menu, we decided to go a-la-carte.Īngus Tartare with Black Truffles (of course) – We exaggerated with our “Truffles” choice, but we just couldn’t help it! With an open-plan kitchen ideal for admiring the artists as they work, stone walls and beautiful bottles of the very best wines lining the shelves. There is also the Chef’s Menu with 7 courses at 120 CHF (served to the whole table). Opened in 2012 in the charming setting of Carouge, Geneva's answer to Greenwich Village, Le Flacon is already playing in the big leagues. In the menu you will have the option of the Green Menu at 69 CHF with starter, main dish and dessert, the Red Menu at 89 CHF with 2 starters, main dish and dessert. The chef explained to us that the menu changes every 3-4 weeks and some dishes can only last a couple of days, depending on the arrivals. (Not bad for Geneva) PLEASE NOTE: The menu varies every week and is at the discretion of the chef but let me reassure you once again you’re in safe hands. You will have the specials of the day displayed on the wall and you will also have a printed menu. The 3-course Le Flacon summer menu, which includes an amuse bouche costs CHF55. The only minus I would give is that it’s a little noisy. Rendez-vous au FLACON, restaurant gastronomique étoilé, pour savourer une cuisine inventive et audacieuse dans une atmosphère décontractée. What to expect? A welcoming and friendly environment, a reduced menu with seasonal ingredients, and a French cuisine with personality and flavour. All of this is very exciting for a food lover like me! I had my eyes glued to the open kitchen the entire time. The restaurant is enchanting with an elegant touch the open kitchen is part of the show, where you will see cooks, pans, ingredients and dishes coming out every minute.
